“Produced in parallel to his ‘Hatcliffe House’ tape series, the 15 cuts of ‘Illegal Rave Tapes Selektion - 1999 - 2012’ chart highlights of a much larger series of archival productions that emerged over the past decade. They variously dial up aspects of classic Warp and Rephlex thru a smudged lens of intrigue shared with likes of Stonecirclesampler (and related projects), Christoph De Babalon or more acutely Moon Wiring Club, who also uses a similar set-up of Music 2000 software on Sony Playstation, with some Yamaha DJX II keyboard chops for good measure.

For just over an hour the set prods imaginations and limbs to dance between the skitter, brittle-boned breaks and blushing AFXian pads of ‘Right There’ to the noisy free party tekno throb of ‘Pelt’. There are canny lines to be drawn with Christoph De Babalon in the murky clack of ‘what is this thing?’ or ‘The Twilight Zone (Music 2000 Mix)’, while he makes eyes at Squarepusher in the amen splicing and harmonic jangle of ‘Vebus’. The lush jungle of ‘Pure Knowledge’ hits a high point, as do the the psychoactive hardcore acid breaks of ‘It’s Not a Matter of Belief’ and an ace collage of voxpops by Mancunion ravers set to gurgling acid and Jega or Astrobotnia-like acid.”

Acrelid Live At Red Laser 06/07/2024 (Full Set Soundboard)

 

 Acrelid live at Red Laser's Galactic Bounce at The White Hotel, Salford, Manchester. 06/07/2024.

 

Red Laser Soundboard/Personal Tascam Crowd Recording of my first ever Live set. It only took 25 years for a serious offer! 

It's fair to say it went more than well, except for not pressing record on the tascam until 9 mins in, the crowd fades in 9 mins into the set, oops! lesson learned. When I get few different live sets recorded and collected, I will do an old school rave tape pack of them all, then the circle will be complete. Rave Tapes Forever! 

 

Big love to the Red Laser Records crew for giving me the chance to shine, listen to this boys! The energy! Amazing sound system and the crowd was well up for it. Shoutout to Red Laser Crew Woody, Adam and Matt. I look forward to working again with you soon! Shoutout to the other acts, Steve Barnett, Rhod Parry and Kickin Pigeon (Cheers for kickin this pigeon on stage! I got the bug now!). Shoutout to Dan the sound engineer for your kind words during the set, it's always a good sign things are sounding as they should :) Could not be happier with how it sounded loud.
