Waking up to this bullshit from Bandcamp really makes me want to close my account and hang up my ear phones.
This regulation is going to kill the DIY music scene, where, in my opinion the most cutting edge music lives and breathes.
As
a DIY label, who was grateful at first, for a site like Bandcamp to
give me platform to sell my music for free, over the last decade my
sales/profits have plummeted due to extortionate postage prices, selling
fees, regulations, tariffs, Brexit and now this.
The Government/Bandcamp knows who I am, why do I need a passport or driving licence to prove who I am now?
Someone
please make a site/service where I can prove who I am, to get paid for
my art, without having to spend money to prove who I am.
Alot of
artists like me can't afford such luxuries as a car or holidays aboard,
so, don't own the ID they are asking for. Another money grab in peak
capitalism times. I'm in fear the next generation of artists will be
talentless rich folks like the current autosync DJ scene, pumping out
A.I. driven music they have not made themself.
P.S. the short
notice about this change is a joke, I got the notice today at the end of
summer 2025! Cheers for the heads up Bandcamp! Mad to think my album
last year was reviewed by the head of Bandcamp, now I'm thinking of
shutting up shop, until I can afford prove who I am.
This has put a
spanner in the works for my next big projects and I will be looking for a
new site to support my work if I can't get the ID in place soon.
Bye
bye Paypal my old friend, it was fun while it lasted and if it wasn't
for the easy way to share and get paid for my work at first, my music
would of stayed on my cassettes/CD's/Minidiscs and hard drives for
no-one else to hear.
If you would like to help keep my label
alive please support my work now, so, I can get a passport in place,
before the cut-off point.
I have a full discography 90% discount on Bandcamp active now.

Any support would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
